Community Involvement

At Rush, Hannula, Harkins & Kyler, L.L.P., we are proud members of our Tacoma, Washington community. The dedicated attorneys at our law firm devote their time and talent to many charitable organizations, and our firm provides financial support to many worthwhile causes. We support numerous organizations that contribute to the overall well-being of Tacoma and its citizens.

• We believe that the Tacoma area is one of the nation's finest regions in which to live and raise a family, and we support the organizations that make it a unique and vibrant community, including the Children's Museum of Tacoma , Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium , The Grand Cinema and Charles Wright Academy .
• We believe that local public broadcasting helps to create a sense of community. We support Tacoma public broadcasting on KPLU , an NPR station ranked as one of the most popular public radio stations in the nation. KPLU has been bringing award winning local and National Public Radio news, jazz and blues to the Puget Sound Region since 1966. We also support KCTS 9 , a PBS station that has served the Seattle and Pacific Northwest since 1954.
• We believe in the important role of law enforcement in our community, and we are proud supporters of the Washington State Patrol Troopers Association , which has a long tradition in serving the citizens in the State of Washington.
• We believe that today's children are tomorrow's leaders, and that is why we contribute to several youth organizations in the Tacoma area, including the YMCA of Tacoma-Pierce County, which provides Christian leadership and encourages physical, spiritual and social well-being through its various programs. We support HopeSparks which provides help to needy and abused children through early childhood development programs. We also support the Boys & Girls Clubs , whose programs enhance the development of Tacoma's boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
• We believe that no one should have to put up with sexual violence in the home or workplace. We are contributors to the Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County (SACPC), which provides support to victims of sexual assault and abuse, as well as their families and friends.
• We believe in the importance of improved health care for our generation and the generations to come. This is why we are backers of several health groups, including the American Cancer Society , the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the American Diabetes Association , St. Jude Children's Hospital (a pediatric treatment and research facility) and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center .
• We believe in the importance of helping others at the national and international level. This is why we are proud supporters of national and international organizations such as Amnesty International , Covenant House , ChildFund International, Boys Town and the American Red Cross .
• We know that there are people in need of assistance right here in Tacoma. That is why we provide support to organizations that help needy members of our community, such as the United Way of Pierce County and Nativity House , Tacoma's only daytime drop-in shelter for the homeless. We also support Tacoma Rescue Mission , which provides emergency services such as shelter and food to the homeless or hurting. We support Northwest Harvest , Washington's own statewide hunger relief agency, which provides a proven, successful, and cost-effective model for getting nutritious food to those who need it.
• We believe in the importance of protecting the rights of others around the globe. That is why we support Amnesty International , a worldwide movement dedicated to internationally recognized human rights for all.
• Protecting basic rights extends to animals as well. We also support the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County , which not only protects and promotes the well-being of our animal friends, but also promotes and provides spaying and neutering services.
• We believe in the preservation of our natural environment and the right to enjoy it. We support Trout Unlimited which helps protect and restore our nation's coldwater rivers and streams and the great fishing they provide. We also support the National Rifle Association , which was founded in 1871 and remains the premier firearms education organization in the world.
• We believe that faith is an essential part of our community. The attorneys at Rush, Hannula, Harkins & Kyler, L.L.P. are strong supporters of the following religious organizations: the Archdiocese of Western Washington Annual Catholic Appeal , Bellarmine Preparatory School , Gonzaga University , St. Charles Borromeo Parish and School , Salesian Missions , Dominican Missions , Saint Patrick School , the Church of Saint Patrick and the Society of Jesus .
